Let’s recap: the United States spends about twice as much on healthcare as any other developed nation in the world and in return receives just about the worst care. Can someone remind me again why there’s even a debate about whether we should put up with this?
I think it’s important to remind yourself of the fundamental health-care situation every so often, which Drum does superbly above. I had a debate on a friend’s blog last month, wherein I had to argue with a libertarian about the public option and “entitlements” and all of that bullshit. We got into the esoteric nitty-gritty to a point where I felt like my head was going to explode.
Kevin makes the obvious point. It’s important for liberals to make it repeatedly and assuredly, lest we be drowned out by the gun-toting birthers at town halls.
